Honeycomb detail - Attempt 1

The above image shows the construction of the pattern. Although it is not a direct replica of honeycomb, it has been inspired by the symmetry of the original column layout. The red arrows signify the placement of the original columns. Using those lines as a basis, a diamond layout was created. The difficulty is now how to finish up the pattern around the edges of the platform.
The straight lines that divide the diamonds into triangles allowed me to extrude the middle space into a geometric, faceted form. This creates an interesting atmosphere on the ground floor. Depending on the material, reflection and light could be played with.

Feedback is appreciated. : )
