Recovered Architecture
Overlooking the Tanami mine in the Norther Territory. The school is seen in the distance in all its glory. Using the teared elements of the mine as a basis for its structure the building takes on an Architectonic appearance. The school's folly is seen occupying the lake allowing students and teachers to use the space for lunch and or restful periods.
The interior of the school is completely open plan. The 'ground' level holds the schools library, lecture theatre, meeting rooms for both teachers and students, admin working space and gallery. The staircase links the inside space and the ground floors roof as a balcony. Trees occupy the upper ceiling space breaking up the cold architecture. Skylights directly above the trees provide light to the space and water to sustain the trees.
Looking up at the school from the folly on the floor of the mine. From here you can see the offices on the 'Upper' story with the deans elevator extruding of the main building on the left. The main school elevator passes between all levels
The open plan layout acts as a form of educational tool. It allows students and teachers to learn from each other, create discussion and be social.
